Several Injured as In-Flight Disturbance Impacts A Delta Airlines Aircraft Landing at Sydney
Several people were hurt when a Delta Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced rough air on Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a company official informed. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.
Emergency medical services said they evaluated five patients, and took three of them to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised back pain and head pain. The injured were between their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the most recent case of aircraft experiencing turbulence, with experts pointing out that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson added, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
The NSW Ambulance Service said they were alerted just three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
